Voices of Detroit #19 Soup and Scoop/Macomb County Chamber of Commerce
Road Trip! That's what Voices of Detroit with Larry Henry and David Benjamin took as we headed to Shelby Township for this edition as we setup shop at the Soup and Scoop at 21 Mile Road and Hayes.
While Larry restrained himself (to a point) David pigged out on the food, which was very understandable.
Lori Maceri, the owner and soup maker extraordinaire at Soup and Scoop, talked to VOD about Soup and Scoop and the long history her family has as a part of the Detroit area business community.
No one knows more about business than the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce. Maureen Rovas, Director of Business Development for the organization, gives VOD an insight into what is happening in Macomb County and what lies ahead.

Lori Maceri Soup and Scoop http://www.soup-scoop.com/
Lori Maceri was born and raised in Michigan. Growing up and living with her grandma, Lori discovered the secrets to preparing satisfying meals, baking, and catering from her grandma Pauline and great grandma, Angelina, who owned and operated a restaurant in Detroit.
Lori began creating her soups and subs in 1984 at Tom Maceri’s Fruit Market which her husband and herself owned and operated on Detroit’s eastside. The Maceri family has been a staple in Detroit’s Eastern Market produce industry since 1936. With 150 varieties of soup that’s a lot of produce. Lori is also the bookkeeper for her husbands wholesale produce company and the restaurant.
Lori is a member of the Sterling Heights, Shelby, Utica Chamber of Commerce and involved in a Brag group within the chamber. Helping others is her desire. She has held a benefit dinner for Multiple Sclerosis and Smile Train, a cleft palate organization. She is currently co-captaining a team for the Clinton Township relay for life. Her goal is to help the hungry by participating in soup kitchens.

I've been meaning to get to "Soup & Scoop" for months - and this podcast gave me even strong motivation.
