Voices of Detroit with Larry Henry and Dave Benjamin get a chance to visit a new hot spot in Royal Oak for entrepreneurs and others to collaborate while soaking in the culture of China and the art of tea making.
Goldfish Tea in Royal Oak owner Jim Girling gives Voices of Detroit the story of how he and his wife came to opening the venue on 4th street in Royal Oak.
Also joining us was Melena Thomas. This is one busy lady! Melena is a professional vocalist (she sings opera during this show!), vocal teacher, blogger, business student, soon to be author, and wife!
This is one show you definitely don't want to miss! (BTW our photos were taken by Milena!)

Jim Girling
We recently lived in Beijing, China, where we “accidentally” fell in love with tea. It all started for us former coffee drinkers when we happened upon a local wholesale tea market one day. In the process of bartering for a beautiful gold dragon embossed tea set, we were invited to sit and taste several of the teas the shop had to offer. For more than two hours, the potential language and cultural barrier was washed away by the pure enjoyment of the tea and tea rituals, and we left the shop with our very first bag of loose leaf tea in hand.
Thus began our growing passion for tea. For the remainder of our stay in China, most of our free time was spent studying Chinese teas and tea culture, and searching out unique and beautiful tea accessories. Goldfish Tea is the result of our desire to share our knowledge about tea and our passion for it here in the U.S. We sincerely hope our passion is contagious. www.GoldfishTea.com
